My client is a membership company located in the European centre in Brussels (Belgium). The company employs 86 people, has 43 members (countries, experts from various industries, etc) and is considered to be a business catalyst in European industries and consumers. It offers a highly intellectual environment driven by innovation and competitiveness.

Their mission is to foster the European economy in global trading, the welfare of European citizens and the environment.

To strengthen its International team, they are looking for a Project Manager.

The Market Perspectives & Innovation Directorate is responsible for seizing opportunities for the adoption of International and European Standards by Third Countries. The alignment of technical specifications and removal of barriers to trade will foster European industries’ competitiveness worldwide through export of products and services in particular for topics where Europe has an innovation and technology lead.

Function

  • Coordinating the company activities to support European stakeholders to access global markets through international and European standardization.
  • Providing assistance, guidance and advice to the company Members and Partner Standardization Bodies
  • Supporting the activities of the Seconded European Standardization Expert (SESE) contracts to define and exploit opportunities for European stakeholders in line with the expectations of all project’s partners
  • Assisting in the development of strategic partnerships with priority international counterparts and working on their implementation (Task Forces and Companion Standards Bodies) and maintaining effective relations with other national and regional partner organizations
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of the economic and political regional developments within specific geographical areas
  • Building and maintaining a strong network of external contacts with the view to secure a dynamic information flow supporting the above-mentioned activities
  • Attending and contributing to relevant seminars and conferences in order to inform about and promote the company activities
  • Analysis, visibility and Knowledge Management System:
    • produce analysis, statistics, prepare briefing notes and make recommendations
    • organize stakeholder engagement events, workshops and study visits
    • gather and analyse intelligence from projects, cooperation activities and
    • manage the international cooperation website pages content, social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter), databases and other visibility activities (brochures, press releases, etc.).

Profile

  • Master Degree in International Relations, Development in Economics or Business Administration
  • Project Management Professional / Certification is a plus
  • Understanding of international relations and trade rules
  • Experience of establishing international bodies and building partnerships
  • Pro-active and positive attitude, flexible and adaptable approach to problem solving
  • Effective planning, organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage simultaneously multiple projects
  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent negotiation and networking skills
  • Outstanding fluency in English (written and spoken), other EU language is an asset
  • Ability to structure and present complex information in a simple way
  • Ability to work in multicultural environment/team and to respond to needs and expectations from divergent stakeholders
  • Being familiar with standardization at regional and international level is an asset
